Athletic Club Basque in their own glory In the conference hall of Athletic Club de Bilbao’s corporate office there is a painting by a local artist which shows an arc standing out of the sea. The interpretation of Bilbao fans is that “if you ever get lost in the maze, the arc will guide you." The arc was the stand out feature of the club's old San Mames stadium, which was nicknamed the Cathedral. Hence, when the club rebuilt the structure to make it a modern stadium, the extremely heavy metal arc was moved to their training facility in Lezama instead of being dismantled completely.
